Assignment 2

CONVERGING HUBS: AN INTERMODAL BUS STOP FOR NEW YORK CITY
This project highligted the concepts of creating a uniform surface bus stop that fulfilled understanding of various digital programs as well as being applied to a real-life situation. The purpose for my bus stop is to fulfill an intermodal connection between various transportation networks in New York City. My design incorporates a ribbon designed surface created through lofts that provides an interior shelter for passengers as well as an exterior station for bicycles. Surfaced areas are set for strucutral support and areas of storage for advertisements, bus information, and the surfaces for bike storage. The paneled areas on the roof and seating offer both a penetrative surface for sunlight to enter the passengers inside while also providing a sleek aesthetic design.

Assignment 2 Near Final Iteration

In our continuing progress with our bus stops, I finalized my design for an intermodal bus stop and worked on finalizing my layouts for the project. The three sheets highlight different portions of the project. The first page highlights site and purpose, in which I display the reasons and intentions for my bus stop and its design with real-life scenarios. The second page highlights form, in which I highlight the iterative process of creating the form and showing the final project. The third page highlights performance in which I apply the site to the model and diagram the model with considerations such as site and program.

A02: Paneling Tools Stage - Pipe Design

In this progressing phase, I began to develop the design for the bus stop further and began to create a design that was more dimensional and began to play around among different viewpoints than just a simple loft and two curves. We were asked to also begin to play around with paneling tools and my design involves a pipe design that pulls everything together and creates a thick and sturdy massing.

A02: Paneling Tools Stage: Fin Design

In this progressing phase, I began to develop the design for the bus stop further and began to create a design that was more dimensional and began to play around among different viewpoints than just a simple loft and two curves. We were asked to also begin to play around with paneling tools and my design involves a fin design that created a sharp and regulating surface.
